STS-114 Shuttle Mission Imagery

JSC2002-01682 (12 September 2002) --- Astronaut Eileen M. Collins, STS-114 mission commander, uses a device called a Sky genie to simulate rappelling from a troubled shuttle in a training session in the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). The mockup is called the Full Fuselage Trainer (FFT). This exercise trains the crewmembers for procedures to follow in egressing a troubled shuttle on the ground. Collins is wearing a training version of the shuttle launch and entry suit.
