STS-117 Shuttle Mission Imagery

JSC2007-E-28574 (11 June 2007) ---- Equipped with a pair of gloves from a training version of an astronaut's extravehicular mobility unit (EMU) space suit, astronaut Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper rehearses possible techniques designed to repair a raised piece of thermal blanket on the Space Shuttle Atlantis's port side orbital maneuvering system (OMS) pod. Two STS-117 crewmembers will repair the gap on a space walk later in the mission. The simulation took place in the Johnson Space Center's space vehicle mockup facility.
