STS-117 Shuttle Mission Imagery
A gap in a thermal blanket on the port side of the shuttle
high res (1.5 M) low res (61 K)
S117-E-05142 (9 June 2007) --- This image, showing a gap in a thermal blanket on the port side of the shuttle, was studied closely by mission control personnel on Saturday after a STS-117 crewmember recorded a series of survey photos with a digital still camera. The gap, about 4 inches, appears to be the result of an unusual fold in the blanket. A video camera on space shuttle Atlantis' robot arm captured this view after launch during a standard arm checkout and payload bay survey.
