The forward two thirds of the STS-118 external tank
high res (2.1 M) low res (85 K)
STS118-E-05047 (8 Aug. 2007)-- This picture showing the forward two thirds of the STS-118 external tank was photographed by a camera positioned in Endeavour's umbilical well seconds after separation from the space shuttle on launch day. Engineers, managers and flight controllers have carefully studied this image and other frames from this series as well as a number of pictures showing the falling ET as photographed by a handheld digital still camera in the shuttle's crew cabin.
