JSC2006-E-18127 (May 2006) --- Computer-generated artist’s rendering of the Space Shuttle Discovery docked to the International Space Station. This angle shows “position three” of the shuttle robotic system. It is part of a test of the 50-foot robotic arm boom extension, usually used for remote shuttle Thermal Protection System (TPS) inspections, as potential work platform for hard-to-reach repair sites on the bottom of the orbiter for Detailed Test Objective (DTO) 849. The test is scheduled to be conducted during the first spacewalk of STS-121.
