JSC2008-E-043209 (31 May 2008) --- In Houston's Space Shuttle Flight Control Room, astronauts Terry Virts (left) and Kevin Ford, at the Spacecraft Communicator (CAP/COM) console, follow the pre-launch activities of Discovery at the Kennedy Space Center several hundred miles away in Florida. The shuttle can be seen on the large screen in front of the control room as it was just about to lift off from launch pad 39A at 5:02 p.m. (EDT).
