S98-04614 --- Sen. John H. Glenn Jr. (D.-Ohio), STS-95 payload specialist, checks the communications system on his head gear prior to bailout training at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). Jean Alexander, a NASA suit expert, waits to help him with his helmet. Sen. Glenn and other STS-95 crew members minutes later were simulating parachute drops into water, utilizing the Sonny Carter Training Center's pool in the Neutral Buoyance Laboratory (NBL).
