JSC2000-04069 (12 May 2000) --- Cosmonaut Yuri Gidzenko (second left), ISS Expedition One Soyuz commander, recruits the aid of astronaut Andrew S.W. Thomas (second right) in putting final touches on his suit-up process as cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev, Expedition One flight engineer, looks on. They are on the mid deck of the crew compartment trainer (CCT) at the Johnson Space Center's Systems Integration Facility. This type training is designed to prepare the crew members for emergency ejection or egress from a shuttle in trouble. The first crew to man the ISS, which includes these two cosmonauts along with U.S. astronaut William Shepherd, mission commander, will use the Space Shuttle Discovery to return to Earth once their expedition tour is complete.
