ISS014-E-13848 (14 Feb. 2007) --- The coastal region in Somalia, south of the capital of Mogadishu (out of frame), is featured in this image photographed by an Expedition 14 crewmember on the International Space Station. This image, taken during wet conditions, along with a view captured during the Expedition 12 mission (ISS012-E-23442) show the same coastal region and provides a visual contrast between wet and normal conditions. The blooming of vegetation within swamps inland of coastal dune fields is also shown in this view. Flooding of a coastal depression by overflowing rivers and swamps is also apparent.
