JSC2002-E-33345 (6 August 2002) --- Astronaut C. Michael Foale, Expedition Eight mission commander, participates in MELFI training in a station mockup/trainer in the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). The Minus Eighty Degree Laboratory Freezer for ISS (MELFI) will provide the International Space Station (ISS) with a low temperature freezer facility. MELFI will provide nominal operating temperatures of –80, -26 and +4 degrees Celsius that will preserve experiment materials over long periods.
