JSC2004-E-22847 (30 April 2004) --- Cosmonaut Alexander Y. Kaleri, Expedition 8 flight engineer and Soyuz commander representing Russia’s Federal Space Agency, sits in a reclining chair after being assisted from a Soyuz capsule. Kaleri, astronaut C. Michael Foale, commander and NASA ISS science officer, and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Andre Kuipers of the Netherlands, returned to Earth on April 30, 2004 in their Soyuz TMA-3 capsule, landing in north central Kazakhstan after undocking from the International Space Station (ISS). Foale and Kaleri spent 195 days in space, while Kuipers spent 11 days in space, conducting research under a commercial agreement between ESA and the Russian Federal Space Agency.
