| JSC2002-E-33359 (8 August 2002) --- Astronaut Edward Michael
(Mike) Fincke (foreground), Expedition 9 NASA ISS science officer and flight
engineer, and cosmonaut Gennady I. Padalka, mission commander, participate
in MELFI training in the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility at the Johnson Space
Center (JSC). The Minus Eighty Degree Laboratory Freezer for ISS (MELFI)
will provide the International Space Station (ISS) with a low temperature
freezer facility. MELFI will provide nominal operating temperatures of –80,
-26 and +4 degrees Celsius that will preserve experiment materials over
