JSC2006-E-16510 (October 2004) --- The vast, frozen landscape of the Canadian Arctic proves to be an ideal setting for NASA to test a prototype of a drill that may one day be used in the exploration of the moon, Mars and beyond. Canadian scientist Dr. Chris Omelon, center, watches JSC engineer’s Mike Drever, right, and Brian Derkowski prepare for the day’s drilling. The core samples gained from the drilling will be used to study the geology and biology of the area.
