JSC2006-E-17287 (29 April 2006) --- The Eureka Weather Station, seen in the distance, is the site where NASA engineers and Canadian scientists are testing a futuristic planetary drill. The weather station is located on Ellesmere Island in Canada’s Nunavut province, about 690 miles from the North Pole. Conditions at the outpost are in some ways similar to those found on the moon and Mars.
