[Space]
is the next frontier, and you have to know how to work in that environment
before you ever want to go any farther. We went to the moon, and
then we haven't gone anywhere else.
But we really
haven't developed sufficiently the technologies that we want to
use to get there, and we haven't learned enough about ourselves
as far as what happens to the human body when it's on-orbit. We
need this station to be able to do that, to work on those technologies,
to come up with better ways to counteract the effect of weightlessness
on the human body.
