Question: When is the Service Module slated to be placed in orbit?

Answer: A specific launch date for the Service Module will be determined in the next several weeks, now that it has reached Baikonur, Kazakhtan, from where it will be launched into orbit. The final testing and integration process will get underway very soon. The Russians will provide a more precise launch target date to NASA after the remaining work to be done at the launch site is assessed. The Russian Space Agency has stated that, with sufficient funding from its government, a launch in September is still possible. NASA continues to believe it is more likely that the module will be ready to launch in the November time frame.
