Answers Your Questions

Question: While conducting a shuttle mission, does the Crew at anytime get the chance to speak to their families?

Answer: Heather,

We have realized that an important part of the crew's mental health and well being is being able to talk to their families. Therefore, for Shuttle missions 10 days long or more, we schedule a 15 minute session that the crew member can talk to his family. If the family comes to the Mission Control Center here in Houston, we can set-up a two-way video telecon. If the family is not able to come here, a telephone connection can be made to the family.
