JSC2003-E-48721 (22 July 2003) --- EVA Operations Engineer Dana Weigel participates in a suited one-g evaluation of tile repair techniques in the Space Environment Simulation Laboratory at Johnson Space Center (JSC). Weigel slightly overfilled the cavity, installed a non-adhesive membrane, and is using a roller to flatten the repair. The test is part of the effort to approximate some of the conditions of an in-space extravehicular activity (EVA) that might be called upon to repair damaged thermal tiles on a space shuttle. Ben Green, EVA tools engineer, is partially visible at left.
