S98-04738 (6 April 1998) --- Valery V. Ryumin, STS-91 mission specialist representing the Russian Space Agency (RSA), checks his flotation gear during an emergency bailout training session at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). The majority of the STS-91 crew recently utilized the pool in the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL) at the Sonny Carter Training Center to train for measures to follow in the event of ejection from a troubled craft over water. Procedures in parachuting, survival techniques and seeking rescue were covered in the training.
