New Space Walk Camera

Several astronauts have evaluated the new Nikon F5 space walk camera in the EVA glove-box and in the Neutral Bouyancy Lab. They are Michael Foale, STS 103, Jeffrey Williams, STS 101, and Joseph Tanner and Carlos Noriega, STS 97. The response from the astronauts has been positive.

Another advantage of the new EVA camera is that it will reduce crew training time. The crews currently train for using five different cameras during each mission. By using the same camera that is used inside the orbiter and outside during a spacewalk, crew training time decreases.
